Public Safety Radio System
The Public Safety Radio System (PSRS) is the system of portable, mobile, base & repeater radios and all related accessories that allow our various departments to communicate for the benefit of the City.
In 2012, we replaced a fairly significant portion of the system to meet current and future FCC mandates on narrowbanding; improve response, responder safety & interoperability; replace the dispatch console at the City's 911 center; and replace the radio tower at the Public Safety Building.
Going forward from this project, we continue to the manage the system. In January 2013, we received a FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant for $14,250 to install a repeater to help fill a coverage hole to our west. We will also soon start taking donations to install a similar repeater to fill a coverage hole to our south.
